The Green Building Council was created in Ukraine

In Ukraine there was registered a public organization "Green Building Council" (UaGBC). Currently the Council has the status of Prospective Member (first stage of accreditation WGBC).

The main objective of the Council is to unite the organizations and professionals who adhere to the principles of "green" building in their activities. The Council marks out the following priority tendencies:

• introduction of international standards of "green" building in Ukraine;
• changes in Ukrainian legislation to promote "green" trend in the construction industry;
• certification of buildings in accordance with "green" standards;
• round tables and conferences for professionals of construction and energy industries, promotion of "green" building ideas by creating and supporting of web-portal, etc.

The Council brings together companies, organizations and individuals interested in applying the principles of sustainable development for projects in real estate, energy industry and related fields.

UaGBC is a member of the World Green Building Council. Because of this, the Council members will receive the support from the international professional community in terms of practical application of the principles of "green" building in real estate projects in Ukraine. Council members will also be provided by informational support and assistance in finding new projects and partners for real estate projects and business development.

Council plans to organize seminars, workshops and conferences devoted to "green" building, training and advanced training for specialists, participation in the development of legislative and regulatory framework, promotion of sustainable development ideas, both in professional circles and among the general population.

The Board also plans to establish long-term cooperation with all organizations interested in the development of this direction. Thus, today it was started the cooperation with the National Union of Architects, the Green Council of Kiev National University of Engineering and Architecture, Ukrainian Real Estate Club.

Additional information

The World Green Building Council includes about 80 national councils in various states that are implementing the principles of "green" building.

The national councils are professional organizations, government agencies, research institutions and private individuals. The purpose of association is coordination of the implementation of the principles of "green" building at all levels, from the adoption of appropriate laws to real estate projects implementation.

Some facts about WGBC:

• The World Council was established in 2002;
• Brings together 80 councils in various countries, whose number is constantly growing;
• In some councils there are hundreds of thousands of organizations and individuals;
• Councils are public organizations that operate within the framework of national legislation.

"Green" building is a combination of approaches to the design, construction and operation of buildings to reduce energy consumption and create a clean environment to live and work. These goals are achieved through the use of environmentally friendly building materials and technologies, energy efficiency measures, renewable energy sources application, the internal layouts of the building, comfortable for human habitation.
