First round table

The first round table on “Prospects for green building and certification in Ukraine” was held on September 20, 2011 at the press center of “LIGABusinesinform” and that, under the auspices of the company BETEN International. The work of the round table was attended by representatives of major property development companies: МЕRX and К.А.N.-development, the company UTG - leader in property consulting, experts in the field of construction management DELTA Projektconsult and UaGBC.

The general idea of ​​this event was to give the development of green building in Ukraine some informational support as well as to emphasize the importance of certification of real estate according to international standards. In Europe and the United States the concept of “energy-saving technologies in construction”, the “green building”, the “concept of energy efficiency” are already for a long time the basic concepts for the construction industry, including the residential and production sectors that consume over 40% of all energy in most countries being the one of the most important end users.

During a presentation the project manager of BETEN International Koriagina Ganna explained the theoretical foundations and financial aspects of the “green” building certification stressing that the certification according to international standards BREEAM, LEED, DGNB can not only reduce the negative impact on the environment and life and human activity, but also increase the value of the property and rental rates of its spaces.

The round table marked the leaders in the “green building” sector among the real estate development companies: МЕRX and К.А.N.-Development are now very interested in green building certification for their sites. According to M. Ivan SCHOURKO, marketing director of the company UTG, holding such a round table is a milestone for ecological development in Ukraine, as foreign companies lay down advanced  conditions to real estate objects in terms of energy efficiency.
